Indian Monsoon & Weather Extremes
A growing pillar focused on the Indian Summer Monsoon specifically: onset prediction, active-break spell forecasting from outgoing longwave radiation, and representation learning from MODIS satellite observations. An ISRO-funded project (2025–2027) is developing a hybrid physics-AI tool for predicting city-scale extreme rainfall events, and an ongoing PhD is building explainable AI models for monsoon rain and extremes.
